With Sympathy

It's a beautiful morning in San Diego! My husband went to visit one of my daughters at her college for Father Daughter Weekend, so I have a quiet weekend, with lots of time to stamp, and maybe even do a little scrapbooking.

Sadly, my first card is a sympathy card. I am really happy with the card, but sympathy cards are always a little hard to make. One of my very best friends passed away this past week. This is going in the mail to her.

I used Beate's weekend sketch challenge. Each week someone on her team designs the sketch. Today’s sketch is from Lori. On a side note, if you have a chance go to Beate's site and take a look. Her cards this weekend are really special! The angel on my card if from American Art Stamp and is called Angel with Flowers. The paper is from Websters Pages, such beautiful papers! I sponged Tim Holtz Distressing Ink on the edges of the papers.

Hope you enjoy the weekend!

Feel Better Soon

One of my co-workers fell and broke her arm this week. I wanted to make a card up quick and get it sent off to her. The My Favorite Things stamp set called Bunny Slippers seemed perfect. I used the week's MFT sketch challenge for inspiration. I pieced the robe in a pretty basic grey paper. Some of the paper edges are sponged in Tim Holtz distressing ink in Tea Dye. I added some brads, a heart charm, brown and pink ribbon, and stickles on the slippers for detail.

This is the inside of the card. The What's Up Wednesday challenge was to make your own designer paper. I stamped the slippers in Stampin Up Chocolate Chip Craft Ink and embossed them with clear embossing powder.
Enjoy the weekend!

Annual Christmas Card 2008

First, have you checked out Gina K's new venture!! Gina K Designs PRESENTS Stamp TV. Gina has created a whole site devoted to stamping. Through her quality broadcast videos, she demonstrates how to perform stamping techniques...so you can see it AS you create. The videos are very well done, and I have to say, even though I have been paper crafting for many, many years, I learned something new! There are new challenges everyday and a chance to win a free stamp set.

So this scrapbook page is my first challenge. One of my goals this year is to scrapbook! I have become so hooked on making card that I have been ignoring my scrapbooking. My second goal is to use the stamps that have to scrapbook rather than buy more embellishments! So this is the perfect challenge.

I used my Gina K Magic of Christmas stamp set. I colored the reindeer with my copics. I used the four snowflakes from the set and sprinkled them with glitter and I used a variety of SU circle punches to punch them out. Some of the snowflakes are popped up on dimensionals! Then I added rhinestones to the centers of the snowflakes. The border edge punch is Martha Stewart's snowflakes and I sponged some of the edges with SU Riding Hood Red ink.

Thanks for stopping by,

Melody

Tea for Two

This is the second stamp in the My Favorite Things stamp set "Tea for Two". I don't normally do alot of animal type stamps, but I do love teacups! And I must say, the bunny and the mice in this set are really cute. Below is a card I posted earlier with the mouse stamp. I love this sentiment. I think it would work great with a Starbucks gift card. I cut out the main image and glued it on the oval so that the bunny sticks up over the oval. All the edges are sponged.

I stamped the bunny two additional times. I cut out the body of the bunny climbing into the cup and popped it up with SU dimensionals. Then I cut out the the bunny and popped it up too. Then I added some stickles to the tail.

Celebrate MFT Day

The 20th of each month is celebrate My Favorite Things Day at Splitcoast. This is my first chance to ink up my new Tea for Two stamps. I even used MFT colors, pink, black, and white; love the color combo! I pieced the bottom portion of the teacup and used a white gel pen to add the dots. I colored with copics. By the way there is a great tutorial over at the "How do they do that?" thread at the MFT forum, at Splitcoast by Candice on copic techniques. I learned a couple of new things that I used on this card.

From The Heart

It was nice having yesterday off and a nice rainy day to just stay home. I made the card for the MFT Who's That Girl challenge. You needed to use three flowers and three ribbons. The paper is Basic Grey Bittersweet which I just love. Pink and brown is always a favorite combo of mine. The stamp is the Mother's Day stamp from MFT from last year. I cut the words in the frame off, and then the stamp can be used for many different occassions. I pieced the pot and popped it up on SU dimensions. I inked the edges of the paper with Tim Holtz distressing ink. I added a little brown charm I had in my stash.

Friends Brighten Your Day

I made this card to send to a friend with MFT'S Rain or Shine, which I have to say is one of my first MFT stamp and one of my very favorites. I stamped the umbrella in the set, cut it out, and used it to make a pattern for my umbrella. Then cut the umbrella out of the checked paper and used dimensionals to pop it up. I used my glitter pen on the rain drops and the added some glitter around the water. I used four different patterns from the Making Memories Chloe's Closet paper pad.

This is the inside of my card. I have been trying to do a little more with the inside of my card while I have everything out, use up the scraps! I think it is a nice touch.

Thanks for looking.

Birthday Gift Card Holder

It a rainy day in San Diego and I had a chance to do a couple of posts!

The first is my Gift Card holder for the MFT February Guest Designer Challenge. It is a color challenge, to use any combination of black, pink, gray, white, and brown. I got all the colors in if you count the brown paper bag I pieced into the shopping bags. The card is a Folder Over Flap card that was designed by Carolyn King. You can see a tutorial on her blog.

I stamped the MFT image from Say Charge! and pieced some of the shopping bags an added a couple of small rhinestones. The circle is cut out with Nestibilities. I add a Basic Grey magnet to hold the card closed. I also added a brad and threaded the ribbon through it and tied a bow. Here is a picture of the inside of the card.
This is the inside of the Fold Over Flop Card. I added a pocket by placing tape on the three edges. I stamped Happy Birthday and will add a gift card when I give to card to a friend.

I used my sewing machine, glitter to the wings, a little glitter pen to the skirt, and distressing stickles on the cupcake frosting to add detail. I also added a little lace I picked up at the fabric store.

Valentine Wish

I created this card for today's sketch challenge on Splitcoast. I don't have enough time to do all the challenges, but I like to do the sketch when I can. I wanted to make one more card with this cute little Whiff of Joy stamp. This is my first attempt at blonde hair. I have four daughters and we all have dark hair so I seem to go for the browns. But this Valentine is for someone with blonde hair, so I wanted to give a try.

I added some red rhinestone hearts, used my glitter pen, and charm to add some bling. I picked up the ribbon at Michaels, the the border punch is Martha Stewart.

I used Taylor's weekend sketch for this card. I love this little stamp from Stamping Bella. She is colored with my Copics and there is pink glitter on the cupcake. Subject: Happy Valentine's Day

I don't have much time during the week to stamp, but I do try to do the weekly MFT sketch challenge each week. My Favorite Things stamps are one of my favorites and I love the Who's That E-Girl set, so versitale, and can be used for many age groups. This will be my valentine card for my second daugther is away at college. The DP is a K&Company paper pad I picked up at Michaels. Most of the image is pieced. I drew in the floor and colored with Copic makers. Then I went over the floor with the colorless blender pen.
The sentiment is computer generated. The heart in the corner is chipboard that I colored and glittered. I also used a little glitter pen on the laptop. I used my cuttlebut swirl folder on the background.
