A Vintage Halloween

My Favorite Things will be having their September release party in the My Favorite Things Member Company Forum on Splitcoast at 8:00 pm eastern on Wednesday night. The "One Click Collection" Challenge, and a chance to win the entire new release, is all about boxes! Create a box and decorate to suit whichever occasion you wish, be it Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Birthday .... the list goes on! I decided to go with Halloween. I want to send some Halloween treats this year to my daughters and niece who are away at college, so I went a little adult with my project. My new My Mind's Eye, the Spiders web, took me in the vintage direction.

The sketch for my card is from Jen del Muro's sketch for you to try. I had to make a few changes to meet my needs, but the inspiration came from her sketch. I paper pieced my "styling" witches' dresses and colored the rest with my copic markers. I added rhinestones to the hat and black stickles to the boots. The witches and sentiment are from MFT's Totally Witchin'. The little spider is actually a brad that I had in my stash waiting for Halloween to be here! A little distressing ink, black rhinestone, velvet rick rack and lace finish it off.

For my box I made a gable box that I covered with DP. Then I added lace and rick rack that matches the card. The cauldron is also from the same stamp set. I stamped it black craft ink, and embossed it with SU Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder.

I added rhinestones coming out of the pot and distressed the edges a little. I made the tag with a sentiment from MFT Trick or Treating with Who's That Girl and added another spider brad.

Thanks for stopping by,
Melody
