MFT's March Ingenious Inking Challenge – Mixed Media

Thanks for stopping by today for MFT's March Ingenious Inking Challenge – Mixed Media

Mixed media can be a little intimidating – once you begin piling up different textures, patterns, and colors though, you quickly realize how forgiving, and exciting, it can be. Mixed media projects are the perfect opportunity to experiment with the capabilities of your supplies and explore your creativity so this month, we’re using Hybrid Inks – the perfect choice for mixed media applications with it’s quick-dry, no-smudge formulation – in mixed media applications.

I used a piece of canvas for the background of this scrapbook page. First I stamped the Birthday Background Stamp in Black Licorice Hybrid Ink. The Hybrid Inks are perfect for Mixed Media because they are permanent and do not run.

Next I used an embossing paste and the Concentric Circles Stencil, sprinkling glitter on the paste before it was dry. The bottom border pattern is sponged with the Diagonal Bars Stencil and Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink.

Next I misted the entire canvas with spray I mixed with the Berrylicious Premium Dye Ink Refill and water. The "16" is cut with the Little Numbers Die-namics and "happy" is cut with the Happy Birthday Die-namics.

On my tag I  stamped the Birthday Background Stamp on craft tissue paper and then applied the stamped tissue paper over Summer Splash Card Stock with a medium mat gel. The tag is cut with the Traditional Stitched Tags Die-namics

Next I cut the Modern Morocco Cover-Up Die-namics from chipboard and embossed the chipboard with Silver Embossing Powder

The large rose is cut from Banana Split Felt with the Mini Hybrid Heirloom Rose Die-namics. The smaller rose is cut from Ripe Raspberry Card Stock with the Royal Rose Die-namics and then brushed with gesso. I used the Layered Leaves Die-namics to create the leaves.

The sentiment is stamped with Ripe Raspberry Hybrid Ink and watercolored with the Sour Apple Dye Ink Refill and water. It is included in the Birthday Greetings Stamp Set.

Here are the products I used to create by projects:
