MFT's August Teasers Begin!

Welcome to Day 1 of MFT'S August Teasers. Today I am really excited to share Lisa Johnson's first stamp set for My Favorite Things, Circus Spectacular

For my first project with the new stamp set, I made a birthday card and a gift card holder. I am loving the style and feel of this new stamp set!

I stamped the Circus Tent with Amuse Ink in Cherry. I just love the vintage feel of this tent! I used the Circle STAX Die-namics to cut out and mount the tent. Then I stamped the giraffe with Amuse Ink in Toffee and used the die from the set to cut it out.

Then I used the Ticket Strip Die-namic to create my ticket with a sentiment for the stamp set. My final touches are twine in Peapod, eyelet lace and MFT Buttons. My papers are from October Afternoon Cakewalk.

Next I covered the top with patterned paper, added stars with the Stacking Stars Die-namics and two more tickets.

I decorated the inside of the tin with more of the stamps and dies.

Baker's Dozen Studio Challenge - July

Taylored Expressions is introducing a new monthly challenge for the design team:  The Baker's Dozen Studio Challenge.  This will be an opportunity for us to share what makes our stamping studios hum.  Each month we will have a fun, crafty question so we can share our favorites, some tips and tricks, stamping advice and more.

The question for July is:
You are stranded on a desert island. The good news is that you find a fabulous stamping hut well-stocked with papers, inks and other stamping supplies, however you only have the 5 stamp sets you brought with you in the luggage you managed to salvage. So tell us, what stamps sets did you bring and why?

Well I have to say it was really hard to just pick five stamp sets!! I decided to go with five sets that I LOVE to play with, but also had a variety of sentiments that allow me to create cards for many occasions.

My first stamp I chose was What's Cookin'? It is one of my all time favorites, with great sentiments, and I figured if I am on a desert island my gifts may have to be food gifts!

I stamped the apron from the stamp set and colored with Copics and hand cut it out.  I die cut the dress part of the apron from patterned paper, and the pocket with the Apron & Pocket die. I colored the oven mitt and cut it out with dies from the Kitchen Accessories die set.

The apron is mounted on paper cut with the Frame It Up 1 die and the scalloped border is cut with the Scalloped Eyelet Border.

I also made a tag to dress up any food gift with another stamp and sentiment from What's Cookin'?. I mixer is paper pieced and I used the Frame it up 1 Die as the base for my tag.

The second set I am taking along with me is Love Grows Here. I love images of trees and you can really use this set all year long. Here is a card I made with the set a while back and you can find all the details here.

My third choice is Rosey Posie. This stamp set is just os pretty! Here is gift card set from a previous post.

Okay, so now it is getting really hard to narrow it down! The fourth set I am taking with me is Friendship Blooms. I love all the flower options in this set and it work well with many of the sentiments  in the other sets I am bringing.

And last, but certainly not least, I decided to take Hangin' Out, perfect for lots and occasions and it just fun and whimsical!

I am excited to hop along and see what sets the other Baker's Dozen Design Team Members picked to take long on their desert island!!

Daisy Bouquet

Hi Everyone and thanks for stopping by today. I have one more day of work and then a busy weekend. We have a wedding on Saturday and a get together with my husband's family to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday.

I do try to stamp at least a little during the week. It is kinda like therapy for me after a day at the office. This week I made a birthday card using Taylored Expressions Daisy Bouquet. My inspiration for the colors comes from this week challenge at the Shabby Tea Room. Along with the colors the challenge is to use stitching, ribbon or twine, and buttons. Right up my alley!!

I colored the image with Copic Markers and did the shading around the vase with Prism Colored Pencils. I added lace, machine stitching, ribbon, twine and a button to finish off my card. My papers are from Echo Park So Happy Together. The sentiment is from the stamp set.

Here is a close up. It is hard to tell in the photo but I brushed on Glossy Accent on the vase.

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello Friend MFTWSC81

Hi all and thanks for stopping by today. It's week 81 of our MFT'S WSC Getting Sketchy Challenge. We have another fun sketch for you to play with this week!

You can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog and the MFT forum on SCS (look for the most recent WSC thread).  You'll need to upload your card in the SCS gallery using the keyword shown on the sketch, MFTWSC81. You will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Using the sketch for inspiration I made this birthday card for one of my girlfriends. Since I don't have to mail it I was fine with a little more bulk. I used the three sizes of the Royal Rose Die-namics and used a glue gun to attach them to my tag cut with the Tag, You're It Die-namics. The sentiment is from Big Greetings Stamp Set and is cut out with on the dies in the Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics.  The papers are from Dear Lizzy Neapolitan.

After I rolled each rose, I brushed on white glue and dipped them in glitter. The leaves are cut with the Royal Leaves Die-namics.

On the inside I stamped another sentiment from Big Greetings.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Hope you have a chance to play along!
