MFT "Frame It"

This week the MFT Idol theme is "Frame It". Even though I am not in the top five, I still want to participate in the challenge, along with the other judges, but on a SMALLER scale. I made a wallhanging with a dance theme. The photo is held on with a customized binder clip, so that you can change the photo anytime you want. I actually plan to give this to my niece, who is on a dance team, but to give you the main idea of the project, I clipped on a picture of my daughter's college dance team. (She is in the back row on the left) The binder clip is made by Creative Imaginations. I stamped the ballet dress, colored the bottom, and used a 1 1/4" in circle punch to fit the binder clip.

The frame is mounted on a 12 x 8 piece of chipboard. The DP is the new Bo Bunny and I sewed a zig zag stitch around the edge. I punched two holes at the top, added eyelets and ribbon to hang the fram with. The cute ballerina is from the MFT set Isabelle Paper Dolls. Below is a close up on the stamp. I stamped the body and colored her with Copics. I colored and cut out the tutu. To make the added skirt on the tutu, I ran a basting stitch at the top of a small piece of ribbon, gathered it up, and tied the bobbin threads in the back. I drew in the wood floor and the ballet rail.

Lastly, I added rhinestones and lettering. The edge punch is Martha Stewart.

Enchanted Lily Make A Wish

It's Thursday already! The week just seem to fly by! I probably got this cute Enchanted Lily stamp, from Pink Cat Studio, six weeks ago, and this is the first time I have had time to ink it up.

The layout is Jen del Muro's Saturday sketch. I wanted girly, bright and cheery, so I went with this Basic Grey paper as color inspiration. Lily is colored with copics, there is glitter on her wings, stickles on the lily pad, and Spica glitter pen on the wand. I added small Kaiser rhinestones to her headband, wand, and in the corners. I added lace and ribbon. The tag is made with the SU window punch.

Thanks for stopping by,
Melody

A Cup of Tea

This is my card for this weeks Idol Challenge to make a single layer card and Celebrate MFT Day. I find single layer cards a REAL challenge. I kept it pretty simple. I used Tea with Flopsey. I drew in the grassy slope. The sky is sponged with Tim Holtz Distressing Ink in China Blue. The coloring is combination of Copic and Prism Colored Pencils with gamsol. There are stickles on some of the leaves. I did some paper piercing and added ribbon and a charm.

Thanks for Looking,
Melody

A Spring Thank you

I bought my first stamps from Taylored Expression last month, but have just not had the time to ink them up and give them a try. These stamps are from the new Whimsical Wishes line. The set has a couple different trees and lots of little detail stamps. I used Taylor's Weekend sketch for my card.

First, I stamped the tree top and then over it I stamped the tree trunk with Palette Ink in Dark Chocolate. The bird house and the birds are cut out and popped up. I used twine to hang the bird house and tie the button. There a lime green stickles on the leaves and Martha Stewart Brownstone glitter on the tree trunk. The edges are sponged with SU Baja Breeze. I used my sewing machine to zig zag around the edges.

MFT Whimsical Flower Fields - Week Seven

This week for the MFT Idol challenge we were to JUST make a card, and use the MFT set, Build A Bouquet, a set that Kim graciously sent us, for our main images. This was actually more difficult for me than I thought it would be. When I stamp I like coloring and love paper piecing! In this set all the images stamp as whole images, not outlines.

I decided to build a flower field scene. Living in San Diego, the flowers are just breathtaking at the time of year! Be sure to hop on over to Splitcoaststampers in the MFT forum to vote for your favorite! You have from 10:00 pm EST tonight to 10:00 pm EST on Wednesday to cast your vote. I would appreciate your vote!

The card is built on a 6 x 6 base. I made a pattern for the hills, cut them out of Certainly Celery, and ran them through my Cuttlebug , using the Swiss Dot Template. Then I stamped and cut out a variety of flowers and circles from the set. Those circles coming in really handy! I will have to remember to use them in the future. I added a variety of rhinestones and buttons to the centers. The sky is done with copic markers and distressing ink.

After I had my flowers in place, I used the zig zag stitch on my sewing machine to sew on the hills. The edges of the hills are inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink pad in Peeled Paint. I have just got so hooked on his ink pads! I want them in every color! The wheelbarrow and sentiment are the only stamps that is not from Build a Bouquet. It is from the MFT set, Can Ya' Dig It? I stamped the wheelbarrow, masked it off, and stamped the smallest flower from the Build A Bouquet set, and added a few rhinestones to some of the centers and a white gel pen dots to others, and then cut it out. The fence is a Martha Stewart punch. The sun is one of the circles in Build a Bouquet.

The tree and the bird are chipboard shapes from Maya Road. I added color by using a form pad and Tim Holtz Distressing Ink in Peeled Paint, Walnut Stain, and Broken China. Then I added Stickles to the tree edges and the leaves on the flower fields. Lastly, I did a zig zag stitch around the outside of the card.

This is the inside of my card. The flower pot and flowers are again from Build A Bouquet.

Thanks so much for looking!
