It's time for the Baker's Dozen Studio Challenge. This is a monthly opportunity for us to share what makes our stamping studios hum. Each month we will have a fun, crafty question so we can share our favorites, some tips and tricks, stamping advice and more.
Here is our challenge for August:
So, what's your stamping style or point of view? Would you consider your style to be CAS (Clean and Simple), Cutesy, Graphic, Vintage, Elegant, Layers & More Layers, or what? Describe it any way you like, it's your style after all! Today's challenge is to show us a couple of different projects using the same supplies. Show us one CAS card and one Fancy Fold card while still retaining your own personal style as much as possible.
Well, I guess I would have to say that my stamping style leans toward Elegant. Sometimes it is Elegant with a touch of vintage, or Elegant with a touch of whimsy. On Project Runway I think they would call it Classic with a twist. Sewing was my first creative outlet so maybe that is why I love a little machine stitching on my projects.
CAS is SO hard for me!! I think it takes me longer to come up with a CAS card than a card full of layers and details! The supplies for my projects are the Rosy Posey Stamp Set and coordinating Rosy Posey Dies and papers from My Mind's Eye 6x6 Pad - The Sweetest Thing - Honey.
My sentiment is from the stamp set. For my CAS card I used the solid image stamps from the set and die cut the flowers and leaves. I added just a touch of stitching and a scalloped border cut with the Medium Scallop Border die.
For my Fancy Fold card I created a Criss Cross card. You can find a great tutorial on how to create this card at Splitcoast right HERE. I love this style card. Along with a notecard there is room to add a gift card or small treat to the inside of the card.
For this card I used the stamped the roses and colored them with Copics. I mounted the roses and leaves on a doily cut out with the Layering Doily Medium Die. Then I added ribbon and machine stitching.
I created a notecard to fit inside the card and stamped a sentiment from the stamp set. I added a tab cut with the Keeping Tabs Die.
