Thanks for stopping by for Day 2 of MFT's May Teasers. I am excited to be sharing my project with our new designer's, Mona Pendleton, first stamp set, Dandelion Wishes, and the coordinating Die-namics, Dandelion Stems and Toppers.
One of my daughter's loves journal's so I decided to created her something special from the plain, kraft journal I've had in my stash forever.
Mona's products are described as Mixed Media for the Modern Crafter. I have been watching videos, reading blogs, and collecting a few new products. I love the creative process and am excited to be trying out some new mediums. We will see how it goes! This is my first project I dared put on my blog!
First I cut a piece of Kraft Card Stock to fit the front and the back of the journal. Then I cut a sheet of sticky back canvas and adhered it to the Kraft.
Then I used the new Mini Chicken Wire Stencil to create the pattern on the canvas with distress ink and then added machine stitching with a heavy weight thread around the edge.
I had these wooden embellishment in my stash. I used Black Licorice Ink to sponge on black to the wooden pieces. Then I stamped one of the sentiments from the stamp set.
I used Faber-Castell Gelatos to color my flowers. I layered three colors directly onto the stamp, misted the stamp with water, and stamped on card stock. I used Gesso for the white dots in the center of the flowers.
The leaves are stamped with MFT Ink in Gumdrop Green.
I used Mod Podge to adhere the flowers to the canvas, and then added a light coat of Mod Podge to the front cover. I added a Tim Holtz clock embellishment and black book binding tape.
I decide to go all out and create a tag and wrapping paper. I used the Tag, You’re It Die-namics to cut out the tag. The sentiment is as also included in the stamp set.
Then I stamped the Dandelions and Leaves randomly on kraft paper in Lemon Drop and Gumdrop Green Ink.
And here's the finished package. I love the organic, natural feel.
