MFT's 5 Days to an Organized Crafty Stash Day 4 - Card Stock

Thanks for stopping by for Day 4 of MFT's 5 Days to an Organized Crafty Stash. Today the Design Team is sharing how they organize their Card Stock. Since my crafty area is also my office I have a desk with file drawers and another file cabinet in my space. But you can tell where my priorities are!! I store my MFT 8 1/2 x 11 Card Stock in the file drawers in my desk where I work and all my work related stuff goes in the file cabinet I have to get up and walk over to!

You can stop by the MFT blog for the list of designers sharing ideas today.

My card stock is divided into three drawers. The first drawer starts with the neutral colors and then my reds, yellows and oranges. I just purchased standard hanging files in red from Staples. I used my Brother P-Touch that I purchased through Amazon to add the name of each color.  There is enough room in the back of the drawer to store my back-up Card Stock.

The second drawer contains my pinks, aquas and blues, purples and greens. I file the colors light to dark.

I store any scraps in the front of the hanging folder.

I have a third drawer where I keep  order types of paper and my storage envelopes for my dies and stamp sets.

Because I do scrapbook I also needed a way to store my 12 x 12 Card Stock. I bought this unit at Michaels. My solid color 12 x 12 card stock is broken up by color and the the patterned paper by Designer/Company. Because I don't use 12 x 12 paper as often this storage unit lives in my closet, which allows my to keep by office/crafty area relatively neat.

Stop by the MFT blog for all details about the great prize packages that will be given away each of the five days.

I will be back tomorrow with Day 5 of MFT's 5 Days to an Organized Crafty Stash.

  1. I like the way you file yours as well. Its fun to see all the different ways people file their paper. I file my scraps as you do your paper. Works well for me as its in a sliding drawer on my left side of my desk so ALL scrap colour choices are always at hand while I am working.

  3. I use a similar cart/container for my 12" cardstock, too, Melody! Love your cardstock files!

  4. Melody, you are so organized. I like keeping my bigger scraps with the full sheets, too. The larger white storage unit is great. I see that each layer is a removable snap container. Great ideas. Thanks for sharing.

  6. Wish I had a paper storage design that I truly liked so far I am struggling to find a method that works well with the 12x12 paper! Anyone have any suggestions?

  9. My file cabinets stayed in the basement when I moved my craft room to the main floor. I kinda miss using them for my card stock storage. I like your method!

  10. My current system is very similar to yours (with Waaaaay less colors!) I love these ideas and this week has been so phenomenal - thank you for all the inspiration you all provide. As soon as I can get organized...I know it will increase my stamping! (its a wreck right now!)

  11. So fun to see "my" system :) - with the dust in my area, I have to keep my papers in a drawer. I do love it though!

  12. Thanks for sharing your ideas, I started out as a scrapper and still am, so I have to store 12 X 12 too. I have gotten into card making and it started a whole new storage system, some can over lap and I do that. I am always ready for new ideas for storage. Thanks for sharing.
