This week the MFT Idol theme is "Frame It". Even though I am not in the top five, I still want to participate in the challenge, along with the other judges, but on a SMALLER scale. I made a wallhanging with a dance theme. The photo is held on with a customized binder clip, so that you can change the photo anytime you want. I actually plan to give this to my niece, who is on a dance team, but to give you the main idea of the project, I clipped on a picture of my daughter's college dance team. (She is in the back row on the left) The binder clip is made by Creative Imaginations. I stamped the ballet dress, colored the bottom, and used a 1 1/4" in circle punch to fit the binder clip.
The frame is mounted on a 12 x 8 piece of chipboard. The DP is the new Bo Bunny and I sewed a zig zag stitch around the edge. I punched two holes at the top, added eyelets and ribbon to hang the fram with. The cute ballerina is from the
MFT set Isabelle Paper Dolls. Below is a close up on the stamp. I stamped the body and colored her with Copics. I colored and cut out the tutu. To make the added skirt on the tutu, I ran a basting stitch at the top of a small piece of ribbon, gathered it up, and tied the bobbin threads in the back. I drew in the wood floor and the ballet rail.
Lastly, I added rhinestones and lettering. The edge punch is Martha Stewart.
Be sure to stop by the MFT forum at Splitcoast to cast your vote for your favorite Top 5 finalists. Their projects are amazing!
