MFT's June Creative Challenge

The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month, we've challenged the design team to create cards, pages, and projects with a masculine theme.

Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all the designers who have a project to share with you today.

First I have a rather clean and simple card, at least for me! I used the LLD Accent It - Rock and Roll  Die-namics to cut the star, guitar, and flames.

The border is cut with the Chevron Stripes Die-namics. I cut the Chevron border and the flames from light weight chipboard and embossed them with gold embossing powder. (You can see my tutorial on making your own chipboard embellishments here.)

I added Black Glossy Accents to the cover on the guitar and the sentiment is from LLD Document It - Rock On Stamp Set.

On the inside I used sentiments from the LLD Journal It - Playlist Stamp set and the star cutouts are created with the Die-namics Scattered Stars.

My second card used stamps from both the  LLD Journal It - Playlist and the LLD Document It - Rock On Stamp Set. I distressed the edges of the card and added stitching in a heavy weight thread.

I stamped the player in black ink and the embossed it with clear embossing powder. The flames are cut from MFT Card Stock in Banana Split and the I sponged on Lemon Drop and Orange Fizz Inks.

The sentiment on the inside is from the Birthday Sentiments Stamp Set.

MFT's July Scrap Challenge - MFTWSC09

Welcome to the MFT's June Scrap Sketch!

Each month we will provide a sketch for a scrapbook page. Simply follow the sketch and upload your creation to SCS using the proper keyword MFTSCRAP9.

There will be a random draw each month from all the participants who have uploaded their Scrap Samples to SCS using the proper keyword. ONE winner will be chosen each month and the winners will receive a $15 gift voucher. If the winner used MFT stamps, they will receive $ 5 in bonus bucks, for a total of $20.

Here is my page based on the sketch.

I come from a large family. Including my four girls there are 13 grandchildren. They are all close to each other, especially the girls. These pictures are ones they took themselves when they were just having fun!

I added some texture to the page using the MPD Graduated Dots Stencil and Light Molding Paste. When the paste was dry I added a coat of MIX-ables Sheer Sparkle Glitter Glaze.

All the sentiment stamps I used on this page are from the LLD Journal It - Graph Paper Notes Stamp Set and stamped in Blu Raspberry Ink. In this corner the sentiment is cut out with the File Tab Die-namics.

I added the lettering with the Bottom Line Alphabet Die-namics cut from Card Stock in Steel Grey.

To die cut the arrows I used the Lead the Way Die-namics.

Here are the products I used on this page:

Thanks for stopping by! You can stop by the MFT blog for the list of all the designers that are sharing scrapbook pages today. I hope you get a chance to play along with the sketch challenge. It is a fun one!

The Last Dance

It is a really beautiful day here in San Diego! It been a really tough week at work and I was really looking forward to the weekend. I started my day with a nice, long walk and a little time in my studio.

I have been playing around with some mixed media products and decide to give Mona's new Mixed Media Color Challenge a try. And who doesn't love pink, black, and silver!

You can find the challenge information right here on the challenge blog.

I started with a 5 x 7 photo of my two youngest daughters. This was taken when Lisa was a Senior in High School and Kayley was a Junior. They were on the high school dance team together. (Love that I am finally getting my favorite photos off my computer and out where I can look at them!)

My patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye. I added a light coat of white paint to the center of page.

This sentiment is from the LLD Document It - Captured Memories Stamp Set and cut out with one of the dies in the Die-namics Layered Label. I scattered sequins I had recently purchased on the page.

I used the MPD Square Motif Stencil and Light Molding Paste to add the pattern to the paper. I love the effect of the molding paste! After the molding paste had dried I added a coat of MIX-ables Sheer Sparkle Glitter Glaze. I am not sure the photo does the glitter glaze justice, it is beautiful in person.

In the bottom corner I added the journaling card with the LLD Journal It - Top Ten Stamp Set and the Die-namics LLD Insert It - 3x4 Insert.

Then I used the Die-namics LLD Accent It - Reel Life to added the reel and stamped a sentiment from LLD Document It - Expand Your View Stamp Set. The sentiment is cut out and layered with the the Fishtail Flags and Fishtail Layers STAX Die-namics.

Here are the supplies I used on my scrapbook page:

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful first weekend of summer!
