MFT April Teasers Day 1

Wow, April is here! And spring is definitely in the air here in San Diego! And with the start a new month comes the start of MFT's April Teasers. Today's teasers include three new sets, Flapper Doodles - Hold Me Tight, Typewriter Alphabet, and and Own Your Story. You can stop by Kim's blog for the list of all the designers sharing project today.

My project today uses the new Typewriter Alphabet and Own Your Story. I have to say I LOVE LOVE Own Your Story! I have so many ideas for this set, just great for cards and scrapbooking! But for my first project with the set I chose to make a journal. I love giving homemade journal as gifts and I love how this one come out!

First I stamped the notebook paper stamp, cut it out, and distressing the inked the edges. Then I stamped the Own Your Story stamp and cut it out with the new Die-namics Four Point Frame Die. My papers are from Echo Park For the Record and I added some stitching here and there.

The Border is done with the new Simple Scallops Medium Die.

Here is close up of the flower I made with the Perfect Posie Die. I love how it come out. I cut the die out twice so that I had two flowers in each size. I sprayed a little water on each flower and the crumbled it up. Then I layered the flowers by sized and added a brad. My final step was adding ink to the edges.

I bound the journal using my Cinch.

I used the letters in the Typewriter Alphabet to add a place for a name and date.

You can play along for a chance to win a gift voucher to the MFT Boutique. You can find all the details at the MFT forum at SCS right here.
This week's sketch is another great one and I am continuing with my goal to build up my supply of birthday cards. Like last week, I added a pocket to the inside of my card to hold a gift card.

I am using another one of my a la modes, Here's The Story. She is colored with Copics and her book is paper pieced. I used the Hearts A Plenty Die, layered two hearts and stitched down the middle. The sentiment is from the stamp set.

Twill, twine and some stitching finished it off.

On the inside I added a sentiment from the a la mode set, Birthday Girl. I added the pocket to hold a gift card. I am thinking Barnes and Noble or Amazon Kindle!

Thanks for stopping by today. You can go on over to Kim's blog to see all the designers who are sharing projects with the sketch.

I added a sentiment from the stamp set. I wanted it to look like a sun so I just hand cut the edges.
That is it for me! Now grab a cup of coffee and take a look at all the great projects in the Hop.

Like I said in my last post I am making an effort to make more birthday cards. Today I am using one of the a la mode stamps, What's Cookin?. Sure it may not be a traditional birthday image, but I thought it would be fun to add a pocket on the inside for a gift card for a new cookbook or cooking gadget.

She is colored with Copics and her sweet, little apron is paper pieced. The paper are October Afternoon, Modern Homemaker. I added stitch, lace, and twine in Charcoal.

I used the Triple Flower Die and added a rhinestone to the center.

On the inside I stamped a sentiment for the Birthday Girl and added the pocket for the gift card using the Jumbo Scallop Die.

MFT's Wednesday Stamp Club Sketch #10

Wow, it has over a week since I have posted on my blog and even longer since I have had any time to stamp. I have been a little overwhelmed in my personal and professional life lately!! Last night I finally got a few minutes to myself and stamped up one of my new PI's that had not seen ink yet. And what better way to help me get started ? MFT's Wednesday Stamp Club sketch #10!

My PI is called One Sweet Chick. She is colored with Copics and her dress is paper pieced. I added a couple borders of grass with the Fresh Cut Grass Die. I used ribbon, lace, and Blossom Twine.

My paper is from my new Prima 6x6 pad called Madeline that I got from Michelle at Stampers Dream. I just have to tell you that her customers service is amazing!!

I added a butterfly with the Butterflies die and added rhinestone to the center and popped it up on some form dots.

On the inside I stamped three little chicks and a sentiment from the One Sweet Chick stamp set.
